It helps in the analysis of stable isotopes (H, N, C, O, S, etc.) which permit the tracking of the physical, chemical and biological reaction and sources materials at a wide variety of spatial scales. It will be utilized for measuring:-
Samples are introduced to the ion source as pure gas (dual inlet) or carried on a flow of helium carrier gas (continuous flow). A range of preparation systems are available to convert solid, liquid and gas samples containing stable isotopes into a gas that can be analyzed, while preserving the isotopic signature of the original sample with high precision and accuracy.
Solid sample for determining the stable isotopic composition analysis must be free from contamination and homogeneously powdered.
Homogeneity- sample particle size, texture and purity.
Weight- Sample weight anywhere from 10-70 mg.
Liquid Sample- Liquid samples vials must be sealed and filled completely to avoid possible isotopic fractionation due to evaporation processes. Low pH (acidic) water samples should be reported.
Separate samples should be sent for different analysis.
Sample details (eg. Location, depth, TOC values etc.,) should be provided in the application.
Data generated will be provided on CD (Compact Disc) or DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) only.
Explosive, poisonous or any hazardous sample giving rise to toxic gases/fumes cannot be undertaken for analysis.
**Please make available the analysis related publications to expedite the sample preparation related protocols.
